Seafarer S.A.I.L. On

SAIL On is an intense leadership program in which campers will spend the entire two weeks living on board a 72' gaff-rigged schooner, the Jeanie B, learning advanced seamanship skills while participating in a physically and emotionally challenging program designed to teach teamwork and foster personal growth.

The jeanie b provides crew quarters for 12 with additional berths for counselors and a u.s. coast guard certified captain. two rotating watches will be established to operate the ship safely and effectively. each group will build a strong sense of team among themselves and with the other watch team as they take responsibility for navigating and steering the ship, around-the-clock lookouts, daily chores and routine maintenance, and preparation of all shipboard meals. the campers will also learn the finer points of shiphandling and navigation with the use of paper charts, gps, radar, and satellite weather feeds. additionally, the campers will have an opportunity to exlpore our martime heritage through historical perspectives of astronomy and celestial navigation.
