Breadcrumb
Camp Seafarer offers riding lessons and trail rides for two-week and four-week campers ages 9 - 16 at an additional fee.
During horseback riding lessons, campers receive instruction in hunter seat equitation using the forward riding system. Campers spend time earning ranks by learning how to care for horses and equipment, identifying horse colors and markings, cleaning tack and properly tacking up a horse. As campers learn more about riding, they have the opportunity build on their skills by moving on to more advanced techniques.
Our horses are leased each summer from St. Andrews University’s Equestrian program in Laurinburg, N.C. Campers must supply their own riding equipment, which includes an ASTM-SEI approved helmet, riding boots and long pants.
Registration
Registration for 2025 Horseback Riding programs at Camp Seafarer begins March 3 for returning 2024 riders and March 13 for campers who didn't participate in Horseback Riding at Camp Seafarer in 2024.
Trail Rides
Trail rides are available for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders. Campers do not need to be in lessons to sign up for trail rides. Camp Seafarer’s horse trails weave through and around our 350 acres. Each ride is guided by staff and can be done in a Western or English seat.
