Parent and Camp Communications

In today's age of immediate communications and apps that track children from home to school and back again, it can be challenging to be "out of touch" with your child for up to four weeks.

We get it. That's why we're intentional about sending weekly letters home from your camper and their counselor and posting as many pictures of Camp life as we can.

Sea Gull & Seafarer App, Powered by Bunk1

Be the first to know what’s happening at Camp and access all the important details for summer. Check out our photo gallery, updates from Camp, important links, news and documents, and be notified when new content is available. Send messages to your camper using Bunk Notes and receive letters from your camper and their counselor via Bunk Replies. Learn more about accessing the app.

Camp to Parent Communications

Updates from Camp: We utilize the Updates feed of the Sea Gull & Seafarer app to share behind-the-scenes insights to life at Camp during the summer and throughout the year. Additionally, follow Sea Gull and Seafarer on Instagram and Facebook, as photos and videos will be posted each week. You'll receive more information about setting up your account on our app in your child's pre-arrival email or you can learn more information here.

Camper Letters: Your camper will have cabin time dedicated to writing letters home twice a week. One letter will be mailed through the USPS and the other will be delivered to the app (excluding Starter Campers) towards the end of the week. Look for your letter in the Bunk Replies Tab of our mobile app.

Counselor Reports: Your child's counselor will also send home communication about your camper's accomplishments, how they are doing and what they have been up to. These letters will be uploaded to the app and can be found in the "Bunk Replies" section. Click on the "Notes" icon in the bottom left corner to find your Bunk Replies. You will also receive an email notification when your report arrives, typically between Saturday and Monday.

Photos: Our app provides parents with a snapshot of life at Camp. Photos will be uploaded before lunch each day and will include images of activities, Evening Programs and birthdays. You'll receive more information about the app and your account in your child's pre-arrival email. Due to our expansive grounds and extensive activities, we cannot guarantee photos of your camper.

Phone Calls: Additionally, we will contact you if we have any concerns about your child’s social, emotional or physical health. You can count on us to reach out in the following situations to partner with you to best support your child:

  • Your child is staying overnight in the Health Center
  • Your child will need a new prescription or repeated over-the-counter medication
  • Your child needs to go off-site for medical care for any reason
  • Your camper is experiencing a mental health challenge or prolonged homesickness
  • Your camper has violated our Code of Conduct

You can reach the Health Center at any time by calling the main Camp Office number. After the Office has closed, there will be an option to connect you to the Health Center staff. Learn more about our Health Services.

No Package Policy

Camp Sea Gull and Camp Seafarer have a no package policy. With hundreds of campers on site, we are unable to accommodate the volume of daily package deliveries.

Please adhere strictly to the packing list when preparing your camper for their session.

If a package is delivered to Camp:

  • Camp staff will open the package.
  • If it contains a pre-approved essential item your camper needs immediately (e.g., glasses, retainer, etc.), it will be delivered to them directly. Please note that it may take up to 48 hours for essential packages to be opened and delivered.
  • If it contains non-essential items or items not on the packing list, it will be returned to your camper’s home address. The credit card on file will be charged for postage, plus a $5 handling fee.

Essential toiletry items including shampoo and conditioner, body wash, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, hair brush and comb, razor and shaving cream, bug spray, sunscreen, lip balm, menstrual products, Gold Bond powder, and aloe, are readily available for purchase in the Camp Store.

If you need to mail an essential item to your camper, please call the Camp Office (Sea Gull: 252-249-1111 or Seafarer: 252-249-1212) to obtain mailing instructions and to let us know to be on the lookout for it.

Sea Gull and Seafarer are not responsible for items lost in the mail or lost upon delivery if addressed incorrectly.

Pre-Arrival and Pre-Departure Emails

The email address on file (the address that receives the monthly Parent Post) will receive two emails in the weeks leading up to your camper's Opening Day with important last-minute details relating to your camper's arrival. An email with Closing Day details will be sent a few days before Closing Day with any additional departure details.
