2024 Optimist Southeast Championship

Camp is hosting the event!

Camp Sea Gull is excited to host the 2024 USODA Optimist Southeast Championship from Oct. 11 - 14, 2024. 

Camp Sea Gull is located in Arapahoe, N.C. (about 30 minutes southeast of New Bern) where a two-mile wide stretch of the Neuse River offers calm, bay-like waters making it the perfect place to sail. Offering a one-stop shop venue for the event, Camp is hosting the Optimist Southeast Championship for the fourth time. 

Stay at Camp

Camp Sea Gull offers a one-stop shop with lodging, meals, airport shuttles and boat charters for coaches, families and spectators coming for the regatta.

Families and teams can choose between private or shared cabins. Rates are per person by night and include lodging, meals and activities.

Meal Plans & Activities

If you stay offsite in a local hotel or rental property, you can still eat meals and enjoy activities at Camp Sea Gull.

Activities include scheduled pool time, paddle sports, water slides, riflery, archery, tennis, golf, basketball, soccer, volleyball and tetherball.

Coach & Support Boats

A limited number of 14’ Scouts (25hp) are available for your use for $275 per day. The daily boat fee includes fuel, handheld radio, anchor, first aid kit, and all safety equipment. 

A $200 deposit is due at the time of registration to reserve a boat.

Boat operators must meet all NC Boating Laws and guidelines.

Coach & Support Boats

Volunteer

Volunteer on the Land (check-in, Opti Land and parking) or on the Sea (safety boat). Camp and regatta experience is a bonus, but not a requirement. Volunteers must be 18 years old or be with a parent to volunteer. All volunteers will be provided housing and meals at Camp.

Regatta check-in is Fri., Oct. 11. Volunteers should arrive on Thurs., Oct. 10 to prepare. Racing will be held Saturday, Sunday and Monday, October 12 - 14.

Private Cabin Rates

A private space for you and your family, group or team. Lodging, meals and activities are included. The price is per person, per night. Linens are not included.

Adult (18+): $120
Regatta Sailor (6-17): $29

Shared Cabin 

Share a space with other groups and teams. You can request cabinmates during registration. Lodging, meals and activities are included. The price is per person, per night. Linens are not included.

A $25 deposit per person is due today. The remaining balance will be drafted from the card you use today on Sept. 9, 2024. If registering after Sept. 9, all fees are due in full.

Transportation

Camp provides round-trip transportation to Coastal Carolina Regional Airport in New Bern, N.C. 
The cost for transportation is $80 per family and is due in full today. 

Linen Service

Linen sets (bedding and towels) and access to washing machines/dryers are available during your time at Camp. The cost for linen service is $25/set and a single $25 deposit is due today.

You will see options for transportation and linen service when booking your cabin. 

Coach/Support Boats

All race spectators who are not staying at Camp or have not purchased a meal plan, must still sign a waiver with Camp. 

There is an option for spectators who are not staying at Camp or have not purchased a meal plan to purchase the Sunday Awards Dinner

Deposits outlined above are non-refundable. 

With written notice before Sept. 30, 2024, any fees paid will be refunded less the deposit paid today. Beginning Oct. 1, 2024, no refund is available. Non-attendance, without written notice, does not relieve you of the responsibility to pay for your registration.
